Are There Bass in Bass Lake?

fish

Funny you should ask, and although the answer is an emphatic yes, there is bass in Bass Lake, that wasn’t always the case. Bass are not native to this wonderful body of water, but the original fish were killed when a lumber company polluted the waters, and bass were introduced to replace them. The powers that be even changed the lake’s name to honor its new denizens, as it was originally called Crane Valley Reservoir. Today, there are over 16 species of fish in the lake, including catfish, crappie, and blue gill, and as you may expect, it is a popular fishing destination.

The Fun You Will Have

Wake Boarding

Fishing isn’t the only thing Bass Lake is popular for, however, and as you partake in thrills that include swimming in designated areas, water skiing, wake boarding, and wave runners, you may find yourself reluctant to leave the water. Fortunately, Love Yosemite! offers many lake homes on its shores, ensuring that you never have to be out of view of its clear waters. As a matter fact one of the more popular lake activities our guests partake in actually take place on land, because watching the sun set over the lake is a sight that no one ever tires of.
