Once upon a time, our dogs were nothing more than tools used for protection and treated like possessions, but today, that way of thought has undergone a drastic change. We realize that our devoted pets offer love and uncompromising loyalty, asking nothing more than the opportunity to show us our importance in their lives. And yet, we are often forced to treat them as chores when we leave for vacation, adding them to the list of things we need done (water plants, take in the mail, walk, feed, and water Fluffy) as it can be difficult to not just find pet-friendly vacation rentals, but to find ones that meet our high standards.

The living rooms in our pet-friendly retreats will be furnished with plush sofas and chairs, will feature state of the art televisions, and many will offer either a fireplace or a woodburning stove. And although it doesn't get all that cold in the daylight hours in the winter months, enabling you to explore the area comfortably, nighttime temperatures will drop into the cold range and as your pup curls up for a nap in front of a roaring fire, you may be relaxing with a cup of coffee as you and your family watch Christmas movies on the big screen television during a holiday visit. And although sweet Zoe may be doing little more than snoring quietly, her presence will add another layer of perfection to your dream Yosemite vacation.

Some of our pet-friendly rentals will offer either game rooms or game tables of some sort, but for our purposes here, we want to unplug and explore the world of board games. You don't often have the time for board game nights in real life, but you remember fondly those moments we spent with your parents in your youth and you want to relive the magic during your California adventures in Bass Lake. Many of our properties will offer shelves or cabinets loaded with books, movies, and board games and the dining room tables offer the perfect spots in which to play. Gather around the table with your game of choice (Monopoly is often a favorite), and as you teach your children the importance of good sportsmanship, with your lovely lab Lisa sniffing at your feet under the table (hoping for snacks), these idyllic moments will be ones you will treasure forever.

Retreat into Sleep
You may have spent your daylight hours hiking through Yosemite National Park (there are many trails your leashed pooch can hike with you in the park), kayaking or boating on Bass Lake, or even biking along the Valley Loop Trail, and when you come home each evening, you will be more than ready for sleep. The bedrooms of our Bass Lake sanctuaries are quiet spaces, designed for comfort and peace, and as you climb into bed each night, your pet curled up happily in his own bed or kennel, the dreams you experience are sure to be happy ones as you have no worries about your pup sleeping without you miles away.
