The Yosemite golf courses in the area offer a more manicured style, as opposed to the rugged beauty of the countryside, but a beauty so wondrous, even during your worst game it is hard to feel anything but awed by what surrounds you. So, pack your shoes, your gloves, and your extra tees. Today, we are taking a tour of Yosemite golf courses.

River Creek Golf Course

Location: 41709 Rd 600, Ahwahnee, CA There were a lot of big headlines in the year 1991—the end of apartheid, the beginning of the Persian Gulf War—around here, it was the opening of River Creek Golf Course that created quite a buzz, offering over 3000 yards of some of the most stunning landscape in the Sierras and 9 well-manicured holes. The play was and is still challenging, and the views were and are still most distracting. Its practice facilities were designed to help improve your game, featuring a driving range, chipping area, and a putting green. It’s 19th hole, the Gulf Bar & Grill, may be our favorite part of the course, giving us a place to tell our stories, pay the fee for getting a hole-in-one (drinks for everyone!), and to play some pool, watch more golf on television, and happily gulp down cold beers and wine.

Big Trees Golf Course

Location: 2005 Wawona Sta, Yosemite Natl Pk, CA For over 100 years, the Big Trees Golf Course, aka Wawona Golf Course, has been delighting players with its 9-hole course, that due to different tee positions, can be stretched to an entire 18 holes. Only open during the warmer months, May through October, this ecologically sound golf course is one of very few organic courses, nixing pesticides and only using gray water to keep its greens lush and verdant. And although the terrain can be rugged, the course is challenging without being intimidating and is a perfect one for golfers of all skill levels.
